The Oduduwa Heritage Organization (OHO) is a cultural group of the Yoruba people. The Yoruba's originated from West Africa, and majority of Yoruba cities are located in the south western region of Nigeria. OHO seeks to preserve and promote the rich culture of the Yoruba nation among the Yoruba's who live in the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area.


The mission of OHO is the promotion and encouragement of Yoruba tradition, cultural heritage and the education of the public to its benefits.


Institutional Activities

  • Annual Scholarship to Students in the USA program - OHO has awarded over $25,000 to students of diverse ethnicity over the past 5 years;

  • Scholarship to Nigeria Program - Award twenty-five (25) N15,000 scholarships to students in Nigeria;

  • Exercise Book Program - Distribute 2,000 exercise books to 4 Secondary Schools in Yoruba Land annually;

  • Participate in the City of Oakland and City of Berkeley sponsored Christmas in April Program;

  • Assist at various soup kitchens during the Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays

  • Summer School Yoruba language courses Offered;

  • Publish the "Akede ®" newsletter annually

  • Member of the "Egbe Omo Yoruba of North America"
